A number of municipalities in the Twin Cities metro have ordinances requiring you to have your home inspected prior to listing it for sale. Known as Truth in Housing, Time of Sale, or Point of Sale inspections, or more commonly as a TISH inspection, these evaluations must be performed by an inspector who is licensed in that particular city. Not every home inspector can do this inspection for you. At Strickland, we are licensed for Truth in Housing inspections in the following cities:
A TISH inspection will take about one hour to complete. We will follow guidelines set forth by the city. If everything is in good order, you will receive a Certificate of Approval from the city that will need to be presented at closing when your house sells. If deficiencies are found, depending on your city, you may need to correct these items and have a reinspection prior to receiving your certificate. For more information on your city’s Truth in Housing requirement you can click on the city link above. Or call us at 952-807-6594. We will be happy to walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
